Wednesday, October, 19, 2011
Training for divorce mediation in NJ is available to New Jersey couples seeking to dissolve their marriages as well as to other interested parties who simply wish to learn more about this alternative dispute resolution strategy and how it is implemented in the state of New Jersey. The most recent such training session took place in the Superior Court of New Jersey, specifically in the Middlesex Vicinage. Here, on October 18th, 2011, a workshop on divorce procedures was held in the evening. Participants attended the session in the Family Courthouse located on New Street in New Brunswick.
Divorce Mediation in NJ - Training Offered on Diverse Topics
The workshop sessions included information on several different topics of interest to participants, including the Custody and Economic Mediation Program available to New Jersey residents. Since couples in the state can pursue a divorce either in court or via mediation procedures, information was also available regarding the complaint process for a court-based divorce as well as courtroom procedures and the rights of litigants. Couples also learned about child support and alimony issues as well as how to file requests for these economic aspects of a divorce.
With divorce mediation, however, such issues are usually handled cooperatively, without the need to file complaints in court. The workshop was open to the public but was free of charge, although advance registration was required in order to allow the workshop organizers to plan the event.
Issues of education mediation were not included in workshop topics.
