The Advantages of Mediation/Arbitration of Employment Cases

Please join Stefanie Allweiss of ADR inc. for a discussion on the advantages of mediating or arbitrating your employment case.  Allweiss will consider the optimum time to begin settlement discussions of internal grievances, charges and lawsuits; what factors are taken into consideration by the Mediator/Arbitrator in assessing a mutually acceptable outcome; and why employment cases present a unique challenge and attention by the Mediator due to the emotions that can be tied to workplace complaints or unfair or discriminatory treatment.

The Speaker

Stefanie Allweiss graduated Tulane University School of Law in 1980. She specialized in the area of Labor and Employment Law for 25 years as a partner with McCalla, Thompson, and later Fisher & Phillips.  She litigated and rendered advices in employment-related matters and conducted independent and impartial investigations of discrimination and harassment complaints.

Ms. Allweiss served as the Executive Director of Employee Relations and Equity atTulaneUniversityfrom 2005-2008.

Since leaving Tulane, Ms. Allweiss is a Human Resources Consultant, and "Coach" to Louisiana Charter School Boards on Board Governance issues. She is a Member "Vendor" of the Louisiana Charter School Association (LCSA) and Charter School Tools and a contributing speaker at the LCSA's Annual Conferences.

Ms. Allweiss recently served as an International Volunteer inSoutheast Asiaduring the Springs of 2011 and 2012 by assisting a Grassroots Organization in developing key policies and procedures, and conducting training on Human Resources issues and law.
