Online dispute resolution is a relatively new field, but more and more training institutions are now using the power of the internet to offer online coursework in alternative dispute resolution.  More than 200 law schools in the United States now offer courses in dispute resolution strategies such as mediation.  In the recent 2011 U.S. News and World Report survey of America's Best Graduate Schools, Nebraska's Creighton University School of Law ranked #15. 

Online Dispute Resolution Partly Responsible for Ranking

The dispute resolution program at Creighton University has frequently been listed in U.S. News as one of the best graduate programs in the country offering training in the alternative dispute resolution process.  Arthur Pearlstein, the Director of the Werner Institute and a Creighton professor of law, commented on the honor, “Being listed among the top programs in the country by U.S.  News & World Report places Creighton in the company of other prestigious institutions and underscores our commitment to the quality, depth and scope of our dispute resolution programs."

Both the MS degree in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution and a Graduate Certificate program are offered via online courses in order to make them available to those with day jobs.  Online dispute resolution courses are taught by faculty members who are highly qualified and also serve the on-campus population at Creighton.

Training such as that offered at Creighton prepares mediation attorneys to work in the fields of insurance mediation and probate mediation, among others.
