Kate Hall focuses on getting results using negotiations through the collaborative divorce process, or through mediation.  She works carefully with parties to identify the needs and interests of their specific issues, and uses that information to help chart a course that sets the parties up for the best results in both the short and long term.

Kate also believes that family transitions and other conflicts can be opportunities for growth, and works to help preserve relationships, especially co-parenting relationships.  Kate brings nearly a decade of mediation experience and direct experience working with the Marion County Circuit Court.

Kate Hall is an attorney and mediator who takes an eclectic approach to helping clients identify the right type of process for the problem.  Most lawyers just have one tool in their toolbox - litigation.  However, most legal problems and other conflicts come with human elements that could benefit from different approaches that can save clients money and transforming, rather than destroying, relationships.

She provides legal services for all types of family-related issues, and mediation services for families, professionals, and the community. She works to get the best possible result as she and her clients see it through together, whether in court or out. Kate brings experience and professionalism to every case and customizes her support to your individual needs and concerns.

Kate offers a free 30 minute process consultations over the phone or Zoom to help assess whether her services might fit your needs. Visit https://www.katehalllaw.com/connect or call 971-599-7217

Collaborative Divorce

This is the best fit when parties are committed to good faith negotiations and need some extra support at the negotiation table, or have complex issues to unwind.  In this process, you can control the outcome privately.

Collaborative Divorce (or Collaborative Law) is a structured process in which parties are represented by specially trained collaborative attorneys who guide them through the negotiations. Depending on the case, the collaborative process can involve other professionals, such as financial, mental health, or child specialist professionals.

*If the Collaborative process sounds right for you, ask whether your attorney is trained and practices in accordance with the International Academy of Collaborative Professional (IACP) standards!

Mediation is a voluntary, confidential process.  In a typical case, we (you, me, and the other people involved) meet together.  We first identify what needs to be decided, and then work through each issue to a resolution.  I then draft any agreements necessary to memorialize the settlement.  The process can be customized to meet your needs.

I serve as a neutral guide on the process of divorce, custody, business, community or other conversation.

I take my ethical requirements seriously: When I act as a neutral, I cannot advise either party on what they should do (legal advice) but I can and do share what the law is (legal information).  Every party to mediation is encouraged to consult with independent legal counsel. If you need an attorney, or are unsure of which process would work best for you, don’t hesitate to reach out.
