The former boss of the CFMEU, Dave Hanna, has been directed to attempted mediation concerning charges he faces regarding improper behavior. Hanna is accused of threatening to stuff a phone down a manager’s throat and of spraying water in a man’s face. Hanna also allegedly used a rude gesture toward another man at a Fortitude Valley construction site.

The account is based on accusations Hanna entered a Broadway on Ann construction site in February without permission and proceeded to move through the facility, ignoring several requests for him to leave. He is now facing charges of breaching right of entry and acting in an improper manner, which carries a fine of as much as $54,000.

The incident was caught on video on a mobile phone, which when Mr. Hanna discovered was recording, responded by squiring water at the person recording and onto the phone and threatened the videographer. He used a worker’s swipe card to exit the building with several employees that participated in a half hour meeting.

Mr. Hanna believes things are not being looked at in perspective after a worker died on the job that began the dispute. He points out he is being pursued, but nothing has been done about the fatality. He believes someone should be charged with manslaughter.

Hanna and others involved in the suit are being encouraged by a judge to attempt mediation to resolve the case. If it cannot be resolved through mediation by mid-July of this year, it will go to court.
