Mr. Barker and his wife, Dr. Lorna Barker, live in Mount Pleasant. They are working to usher their four children into adulthood. The Barkers are active members of Christ Church Mount Pleasant where Mr. Barker serves as the Senior Warden of the Vestry, sings in the choir, and is the drummer for the contemporary praise band.
Born in Virginia, Mr. Barker graduated from Virginia Tech as did his four siblings. After graduation, he accepted a commission in the United States Navy and was stationed aboard a warship in Charleston. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander before answering a calling into the legal profession.
Mr. Barker graduated cum laude from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. He practiced in Los Angeles, California before returning to Charleston to raise his family and practice law.
More than a witness to the emotional consequences of divorce, Mr. Barker is a skilled and unfaltering advocate for his clients. His experience allows him to work aggressively to ensure that his clients not only survive the divorce process, but also position themselves to thrive.
In his free time, Mr. Barker enjoys dancing with his wife, attending live musical performances, and cooking and entertaining at home. He is an accomplished percussionist and drummer, and plays the Highland bagpipes to the chagrin of his children and neighbors.
A true advocate for community involvement, Mr. Barker dedicates his time to several local organizations, including:
East Cooper Concert Series, board of directors
Two Fish Global Missions, board of directors
Veterans of Foreign Wars, member
American Legion, member
Rotary Club of Mt. Pleasant, member
Paul Harris Fellow
Christ Church Mt. Pleasant, Senior Warden
