Mr. Henson was born in Charleston, Mississippi, admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1974; U.S. District Court, Northern District of Mississippi 1974; U.S. District Court, Southern District of Mississippi 1993; U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit 1977; U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit 1981. Mr. Henson received his undergraduate education at Mississippi State University receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors in History and Political Science in 1972. His legal education was received at the University Mississippi where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1974 with distinction. While in law school, Mr. Henson was a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, the Moot Court Board and served as the Secretary-Treasurer and Vice-President of the law school student body, as well as being named to Who’s Who Among American College and University Students in 1974. After graduation from law school in 1974, Mr. Henson practiced law in Clarksdale until 1987 when he joined the firm. While in Clarksdale, Mr. Henson was a member of the Coahoma County Bar Association serving as Secretary, 1979-80, Vice-President, 1980-81 and as President, 1981-82. Since joining the firm and moving to Greenwood, Mr. Henson has been a member of the Leflore County Bar Association and is serving as Vice-President, 2009-2011 and as President in 2012. He is member of the Mississippi Bar Association, and has been since 1974. He has been elected as a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation. Mr. Henson has been a member of the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association since 1984, serving as Director, 2007, North Regional Vice-President, 2008, Secretary-Treasurer, 2009, President Elect, 2010 and President, 2011. He has been a member of the William C. Keady American Inn of Court, (Barrister). Mr. Henson has been a member of the Defense Research Institute since 1984 and is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, American Judicature Society, Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit, and the Mississippi Claims Association.
Primary Practice Areas
Mr. Henson’s primary practice areas are: insurance coverage issues and litigation, toxic torts, commercial litigation, general tort litigation, product liability, premises liability, professional errors and omissions litigation (other than medical), governmental liability, automobile liability and trucking cases.
He has conducted numerous programs and continuing education classes on insurance coverage, governmental liability and other topics for clients. He has also been a speaker on lawyers’ professional liability issues at seminars presented in past years by the recommended liability carrier for the Mississippi Bar. Mr. Henson is on the Mississippi Courts’ approved mediators list and has conducted mediations in insurance coverage, automobile liability, general Tort cases and nursing home liability.
