Mediation is a personal service. The knowledge, experience, skills and personality of your mediator is critical to the outcome of your mediation. After a 35 year career as an attorney in Lexington, KY, Greg Jenkins moved to Greenville in 2012 with his wife, Diane, when she joined a dental specialty practice here. After commuting for over a year to wind down his practice in Kentucky, Greg decided to open Greenville Mediation in 2013 to provide a full-time mediation and dispute resolution practice for the South Carolina Courts, attorneys, their clients, and individuals. Litigation and Trial Experience
For more than 35 years, Greg practiced as a trial attorney in Kentucky. Over his career, Greg's practice included broad areas of personal injury and tort litigation as well as health care law. The last 25 years were concentrated heavily in the defense of medical malpractice, product liability and complex tort cases. He has been involved in numerous medical staff issues and represented clients in proceedings before professional administrative and licensing boards. Greg not only defended well over 1,000 litigated cases, he has tried over 150 cases to jury verdict. During his litigation practice, he represented clients in hundreds of mediations. Several years ago, Greg took his initial mediator training and began serving as a third party neutral/mediator. Upon moving to South Carolina in 2012, Greg decided to become a full-time mediator and established Greenville Mediation for that purpose.
Applied Knowledge
Greg’s experience as a litigator and trial attorney allows him to understand the process and subject matter of many areas of litigation. While his training as a mediator provides him with the skills to mediate a wide range of disputes in almost any subject matter, his particular experience and understanding in the areas of complex cases like medical malpractice, product liability, and drug and device cases is beneficial in helping you focus on the issues.
A Neutral Mediator
Greg's mediation training and practice emphasizes the necessity of being balanced, even-handed, and without bias toward any party's position. Although his legal career was from the defense perspective, when performing as a mediator/third party neutral, that view point no longer controls. However, it does provide both credibility and insight for both Plaintiff and Defendant when helping each side analyze their positions and how that may be perceived by the opposing side during the course of a mediation. Successful mediation is about understanding, communication and realistic assessment. Greg's background and experience is available and beneficial to both sides of the table.
An Honest Reputation
Greg’s long reputation for fair dealing and honesty continues to be the overriding principle in his role as a mediator. He has held an AV Preminent Rating for over 15 years from Martindale-Hubbell; he has been listed in Best Lawyers in America and Kentucky SuperLawyers for several years running. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. You can trust him for understanding, insightful, fair, and probing analysis. He is committed to the confidentiality of your position throughout and after the mediation process.
Formal Training in Mediation and Dispute Resolution
Greg has taken more than 180 hours of formal training in mediation and hundreds of additional hours in study and practicum to learn and hone the role of a mediator and third-party neutral. Greg has completed formal training courses and has experience in several methods of mediation, including:
