Irwin Kahn is the founding Senior Partner of the Law Firm of Kahn & Horwitz, P.C., a General Practice firm which includes practice in the fields of Mediation and Arbitration, Commercial Law, Real Estate, Litigation, Surrogate and Estate Practice.
Irwin Kahn is an experienced Mediator and Arbitrator who has successfully participated in more than five hundred mediations and arbitrations. He has served at the American Arbitration Association, FINRA, the Small Claims Court of the Civil Court of the City of New York and for commercial providers of Alternative Dispute Resolution services. He is a Mediator for the New York County Supreme Court Commercial Division. He serves as a Mediator and Arbitrator for the United States Eastern District Court of New York and as a Mediator for the Southern and Eastern District Bankruptcy Courts.
EDUCATION:
A native New Yorker, Mr. Kahn is a graduate of the New York University School of Law. He was admitted to practice in the Appellate Division First Department in 1958. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York; the Supreme Court of the United States of America; United States Court of Military Appeals and United States Court of Claims, as well as before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Bar of the State of Florida.

Mr. Kahn was a Member and Hearing Panel Chairman of the First Judicial Department, Departmental Disciplinary Committee from 1989 to 1996. At present he is a Special Referee for Discipline Cases, First Department. He serves as a Mediator and Arbitrator for the United States District Court, Eastern District. He also serves in the New York County Supreme Court, Commercial Division as a Mediator. In addition he is a Mediator for the Southern and Eastern District Bankruptcy Courts. He has served as an Administrative Law Judge.
Irwin Kahn has lectured at the New York County Lawyers' Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Arbitration Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of the City of New York. He has also participated in programs at Columbia Law School, Fordham Law School, New York Law School and New York University Law School.
Mr. Kahn is a Past Member of the Board of Directors and Past Chairman of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the New York County Lawyers' Association. He is a Past President of the Network of Bar Leaders, Past President of the Jewish Lawyers Guild, and is a Fellow of the American Bar Association, a member of the American Judges Association, the Association of Arbitrators, the American Association for Justice, formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of the City of New York. In addition Mr. Kahn is a former Member of the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and a past member of the House of Delegates and is Chairman of the Arbitration Committee of the General Practice Section.
