Jacob Oakman Malatesta was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and began his legal career in the Mississippi Delta practicing in Clarksdale then Greenville before moving to Jackson, Mississippi. Before moving to Jackson, Mr. Malatesta gained experience litigating cases in both state and federal courts in Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Alabama. In the past year, he has handled cases involving agricultural law, employment discrimination, medical malpractice, premises liability, and general insurance defense at both the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Malatesta has been certified by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
Mr. Malatesta is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Spanish. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi where he graduated cum laude . In law school he was selected as a member of the Moot Court Board and later elected as a member of the Executive Board where he served as Appellate Advocacy Chairman. He was later named Moot Court Member of the year and inducted into the Order of Barristers.
Mr. Malatesta currently lives in Jackson with his wife, Christy. He enjoys hunting, fishing, being outside, and Ole Miss sports.
