J. Lynn Watson

         
Lynn earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Vanderbilt University in 1980 and his doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis in 1983.  He began his career with a law firm in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with a general civil practice that included wills and estates, business planning, real estate, family law, personal injury, and municipal law.  After seven years, Lynn moved to city hall as assistant city attorney when the City of Murfreesboro created a full time legal department.

Lynn served five years on the Board of Trustees of Middle Tennessee Christian School, a school he attended as a child.  When the school was searching for a president, a consultant working with the school suggested that Lynn consider a career change.  Lynn became the President of MTCS in 1992 where he served for twenty years.  During his tenure, the school experienced enrollment growth and multiple capital expansion and improvement projects.

In 2012 Lynn returned to the practice of law, focusing on estate planning and administration.  He also works with a charitable estate planning firm that assists nonprofit organizations and their constituents with gift and estate planning.

Lynn is admitted to practice in Tennessee, the U. S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Lynn is a member of the Rutherford-Cannon County and Tennessee Bar Associations.  He is a graduate of Leadership Rutherford and was one of the founders of Youth Leadership Rutherford, a leadership program that introduces approximately thirty-five outstanding high school juniors and seniors to community leaders and opportunities across Rutherford County every year.  He has served on the board of directors of the National Christian School Association and the community boards of two banks.
