Joshua Reilly grew up in Nikiski, Alaska in a log cabin where he was homeschooled for the first years of his life by his parents and grandparents. Needless to say he was first in his class.
In high school, he spent most of his time playing sports and working for his father’s construction company, which consisted of Josh and his father. And if you ask Josh if he sang in the choir for three years, he will adamantly deny it.
Upon leaving Alaska, Josh attended Western State College of Colorado on a football scholarship. Here he became an NCAA Division II Academic-All American, while playing on a lot of football special teams. Three years and three surgeries later, a continuing knee and neck injury forced him to give up his scholarship and focus on academia.
With his football scholarship gone and a lot of spare time, Josh found a job as a CNA or Certified Nurse Assistant. During his employment as a Certified Nurse Assistant, apart from regular working hours, Josh worked nights, weekends, and hospice care. The summer of his senior year, he worked for the Department of Health and Human Services as a camp leader for nine and ten year olds. During these two unique jobs, Josh developed an affinity for helping people in their time of need. The following spring he graduated from Western State College of Colorado with honors and moved to Denver.
Josh chose a career in the legal field because he saw it as an opportunity to help people. This led him to study for and take the LSAT, which is the entrance exam for law school, and gained him acceptance to the University of Denver.
In 2007, Josh attended The University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he garnered an interest in civil litigation. In law school, Josh was a member of the Public Interest Law Group, a semi-finalist in the Barrister’s Cup, and runner-up for the settlement negotiations competition. In his first year, he learned about personal injury law and quickly saw that people in our society were being taken advantage of by insurance companies. Throughout his life, Josh enjoyed rooting for and being the underdog, and he sees fighting insurance companies as a chance to do the same.
Josh has experience in probate, criminal law, district court litigation, county court litigation and trial. Josh became a licensed member of the bar in Colorado in 2010. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40.
