June Jacobson is a highly skilled, experienced, and well-trained divorce and family mediator practicing in Manhattan.

A lawyer as well as a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist, I am knowledgeable about all areas of divorce – emotional, legal, financial – and how they impact all members of the family. I create a safe and supportive setting in which separating partners can express their needs and interests at a time of great stress and transition, and help them make good decisions to move forward.

Professional Background

I have been a family and divorce mediator since 1996, and have trained mediators at the Cardozo Law School (Yeshiva University) and the  Center for Mediation and Training. I was admitted to the NYS bar in 1980, and have been a psychotherapist and social worker since 1987. I have appeared on national television as an expert on the legal and psychological implications of parenting, and I have served as a consultant to the New York Times, Time magazine, and other publications. I am a former President of the Family & Divorce Mediation Council of Greater NY (FDMCGNY), a former member of the Board of the NYS Council on Divorce Mediation (NYSCDM), an Accredited Member of NYSCDM, and an Advanced Practitioner Member of Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

Personal Background

I am a divorced parent with over twenty years of first-hand experience in co-parenting peacefully and cooperatively.

First Steps

If you are interested in learning more about divorce mediation, how I work in divorce mediation, or how mediation fits into theprocess of divorce overall, please contact me. I am happy to answer your questions about the process by e-mail or by phone, and I offer a free consultation for you and your spouse (or partner) to explain more about the mediation process in person.

Next Steps

Should you decide to work with me, I am available for meetings daytime and evening hours throughout the work week. I also offer occasional weekend hours. The frequency of meetings is up to you -- some people like the convention of weekly meetings, while others want to meet more often or less often. I am happy to accommodate whatever will work for you. Meetings can be for an hour, an hour and-a half, or two hours, depending on your preference and scheduling needs. In our first working meeting I will provide you with two documents that will help to guide you through the process of our work together.

Fees

I offer a free consultation (20 to 30 minutes) to explain the mediation process and answer your questions, including a full discussion of the hourly rate for mediation. Fees are paid "as you go," with no retainer charged at the outset. If you choose to have me draft an agreement at the conclusion of the mediation, there is a separate fee for me to do so, which depends on the complexity of your circumstances. Finalizing a divorce in court involves additional fees.

Location

My office is located at 36 E. 20th Street (between Broadway and Park), Second Floor, in the Flatiron District. The office is conveniently accessible by most subway lines, and there are several parking lots within a block or two of the office.

I look forward to hearing from you and working with you!
