During 2005 and 2006, Mr. Peterson served as the Managing Editor of the Michigan State Law Review.  His student article, School Authority v. Students’ First Amendment Rights: Is Subjectivity Strangling the Free Mind at Its Source?, 2005 MICH. ST. L. REV. 931, was selected for publication and received citations in several briefs presented before the Supreme Court of the United States in the 2007 case of Morse v. Fredrick.

Following graduation, Mr. Peterson practiced from 2006 until 2009 in Flagler County, Florida.  There, he represented individuals, businesses and government agencies in a multitude of civil cases, including contract and property disputes, copyright infringement claims, commercial transactions, and violations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (“IDEA“).  Mr. Peterson also practiced criminal defense, representing clients in violent felony cases, as well as drug possession, theft and other matters.

From 2009 until present, Mr. Peterson has practiced mainly in Central Florida in the areas of complex business litigation and contract disputes.  Mr. Peterson has also litigated consumer protection claims under the Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act and the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.

In 2012, Mr. Peterson also became a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator and has mediated residential forclosure cases, as well as insurance subrogation and debt collection matters, across most of the State of Florida.

In 2014, Mr. Peterson became a Florida Supreme Court Certified Appellate Mediator.

He currently lives in Winter Park and is married with two stepchildren.

PEACEFUL RESOLUTION THROUGH COMPROMISE

Lawsuits can be long, expensive and stressful, and the outcome is almost always uncertain.  But there are alternatives to litigation.

Mediation is an alternative to litigation where the parties meet with a neutral third-party called a "mediator", and discuss ways to settle their differences without litigation.

Mediation takes place in a confidential setting outside of the courtroom and participation is voluntary.

Thus, it gives the parties the power, and the opportunity, to resolve their dispute on their own terms - not on the terms decided by a judge or a jury.

As a certified mediator, I would be honored to help you find an alternative solution to your case.
