ABOUT KEITH GRADY

Keith Grady was born on June 17, 1967 in Pecos, Texas. Keith’s grandfather, W.W. “Cat” Hill, was a cotton, cattle and cantaloupe farmer. Cat Hill saw what others would come to learn: Keith would be a good lawyer. Keith’s grandfather never missed a chance to remind Keith of his calling — The Law.

As a young child, Keith moved from Pecos and spent most of formative years in the small East Texas town of Hawkins (population 1,700). In Hawkins, Keith participated in numerous school activities, including Student Council President, Class President, Choir President, and UIL competitions in computer programming and poetry. Keith participated in year round athletics, distinguishing himself as All-District in football, basketball, tennis and track. In 1985, Keith graduated from Hawkins High School with 56 other students.

Keith continued his education on the university level at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, graduating in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science, with a double major in Political Science and English, and a minor in History. During his time at Stephen F. Austin, among other activities, Keith participated in the South Texas College of Law Undergraduate Moot Court Competition. Keith and his partner were first champions of the tournament from Stephen F. Austin. This victory confirmed for Keith what his grandfather had always told him—“you would make a great lawyer.” Thus, after graduation from college, Keith enrolled in South Texas College of Law in the fall of 1989, where he continued his efforts in the area of trial advocacy. He earned top honors (American Jurisprudence Award) in the Civil Trial Advocacy Course at South Texas College of Law. Keith competed in several national mock trial championships. His overall advocacy experiences earned him a membership in the prestigious Order of the Barristers. Further, he distinguished himself in the classroom while at South Texas, earning Dean’s List honors.

While attending law school Keith gained valuable experience working at the firm of O’Quinn, Kerensky, McAnanich & Riebschlager (“The O’Quinn Law Firm”). Upon graduation from law school in 1992 and completion of the bar exam, Keith continued to work at the O’Quinn Law Firm and eventually left the firm to join Gary Riebschlager & Associates, a splinter of the O’Quinn firm. In April of 1996, Keith Grady, Peter Schneider and Bobby Newman founded the firm of Grady, Schneider & Newman, L.L.P., now, The Grady Law Firm, P.C. Since graduating from law school and entering private practice, Keith has served as an adjunct professor at South Texas College of Law and a coach of national mock trial teams.

Keith is married to his college sweetheart, Kelley. They have been married for 25 years and have three (3) wonderful children, Jake, Kurstin and Michael. Keith has been a select basketball coach since 2002, coaching on the local, city, state and national level. He has touched the lives of hundreds of young people through his work in basketball. Keith formed and maintains the day-to-day operation of The Runnin’ Rebels, a team aimed at providing basketball opportunities (equipment, uniforms, tournaments and travel) to those who may not otherwise be able to afford it.
