Ms. Van Note is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a certified Child & Family Investigator (CFI) practicing in Denver, who possesses a uniquely blended portfolio of clinical experience. Ms. Van Note offers mediation couples a wealth of knowledge gained through her many years of experience serving as a CFI. In that role, she was appointed by judges in the domestic relations courts to investigate, report and make recommendations to the court on issues that affect the best interest of children when couples were in dispute regarding the allocation of parental responsibilities. She provided testimony in court as well as in written reports to judges. In that context, she has worked with families in which domestic abuse, child abuse and neglect and substance abuse were often involved. Serving as a CFI has enabled Ms. Van Note to understand how difficult and complex litigated divorce proceedings can be and she was able to finely tune her problem-solving skills to help parties facing extreme conflict learn how to keep the best interests of children at the forefront of their divorce.
My desire is to assist couples in mediation so they do not have to face the emotional and financial roller-coaster of high-conflict litigation by using my experience as a CFI to help couples find creative solutions to their issues.
In addition, Ms. Van Note’s clinical background includes treating youth in psychiatric residential treatment facilities as well as providing individual, group and family therapy to adolescents and adults in the community mental health system. She was a managing partner of a Dialectical Behavior Therapy practice, and has also treated impaired physicians, provided counseling to senior citizens in long-term care, and counseled high-risk female offenders in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
