Robert Terhune Stewart, M.S., J.D., M.A.-MFT, has a full-time practice devoted solely to divorce and post-divorce mediation.  A graduate of Amherst College, Mr. Stewart has also earned the following graduate degrees:  Masters in Accounting and Taxation; Juris Doctor (law); Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Mr. Stewart  practiced family and tax law for over twenty years, but he  has devoted the past thirteen years solely to mediating divorces; post-divorce modifications; and both parenting and step-parenting issues. Because he is divorced and remarried, and has five children and two stepchildren, Mr. Stewart also brings personal experience, perspective and empathy to his practice.

I am a compassionate, supportive and experienced professional whose practice focuses on divorce mediation; parenting (custody) schedules; post-divorce mediation and modification; and stepfamily issues.

I am a member of: the Family Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution (Advanced Practitioner); American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy; Connecticut Association for Marriage and Family Therapy; and The Stepfamily Association of America. I formerly served on the Board of Directors for:  The   Pastoral Counseling Center; The Shared Parenting Council of CT; and The Connecticut Council for Divorce and Family Mediation.

As your divorce mediator, I will use my extensive professional education and experience to help you and your spouse take control of your lives; work through all the financial, tax, legal and emotional issues of the divorce process; and develop an agreement that will set the stage for a secure and peaceful future for yourselves and your children. Divorce mediation is significantly less expensive than litigation; it is a confidential and private process; and it promotes both cooperation and healing.
