SCOTT GILMORE
is an experienced and effective mediator, having handled more than 500 mediations since commencing his mediation practice in 2003. In addition to his private mediation work, Scott continues to serve on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Scott has completed more than 100 hours of mediation training offered through the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Scott has also practiced law for more than 35 years, exclusively as a member of Hill, Farrer & Burrill LLP, one of California's oldest law firms. He specializes in business related litigation, with specific expertise in contract, real estate, construction, closely-held corporation and partnership litigation. He has extensive experience in trying both jury and non jury cases in the state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association. Scott has also prosecuted numerous appeals, both of cases he has tried and appellate matters referred to him by other attorneys. His broad based legal background provides additional value to his mediation services.
From 1998 through 2002 Scott served as Managing Partner of Hill, Farrer & Burrill LLP.
Scott graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California School of Business Administration in 1975. He then received both his Masters in Business Administration and his Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Southern California in 1978.
Scott holds an AV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Scott's professional mediation affiliations include the Southern California Mediation Association and the Dispute Resolution Section of the American Bar Association. Scott is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Bar Association, in which he is a member of the litigation section of both associations. He is a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
