In the early years of his practice in St. Paul, Minnesota he focused on complex antitrust and class action litigation. In 2011, he relocated his practice and began to de-emphasize litigation and concentrate on commercial transactions, real estate, estate planning, probate, and small business litigation. He is a member of the St Patrick's Association, Inc. (President 1985-87, Treasurer 1988 to present) and is a past member and board of directors of the William Mitchell College of Law Alumni Association (President 1985-86).
He is admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, the Supreme Court of the State of Minnesota. He belongs to the Hennepin County and American Bar Association He is the co-author with Dr. Richard C. Hoyt of a law review article entitled, "Calculating the Present Value of Future Damage Awards: a Critique of the
New Minnesota Statute", 11 Hamline L. Rev. 1 (1988). He serves as special counsel to the Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Women in the Metals Industry, and the Northwest Chapter of the Metals Service Center Institute.
