Timothy J. Kramer chairs our Firm’s Family Law Practice Group and is a member of the Litigation Section, Auto Dealership, and Real Estate sections. He has been with our Firm since 1987, and has been a partner since 1994. Tim lives in the Detroit Metropolitan area, is married to Colleen A. Kramer, Esq., and has two children. His primary practice areas include family law, landlord-tenant disputes, foreclosure, construction law, secured transactions, and commercial litigation.
Tim received his B.A. from Oakland University in 1979 and his J.D. from the Detroit College of Law (now Michigan State University School of Law) in 1984. He is a member of the Hall of Honor at Oakland University and received Certificates for Excellence in the study of law for the academic years 1982-1983 and 1983-1984 while at the Detroit College of Law. He has given lectures on construction liens and bonds to owners, developers, and contractors.
Tim is a member of the Detroit Metropolitan and Macomb County Bar Associations, Wayne County Family Law Section, State Bar Family Law Section, State Bar Real Property Law Section, and the State Bar of Michigan Litigation Section. He is a former council member of the State Bar of Michigan Litigation Section, and is a Member of the Fellows of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in the State of Michigan and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Since 1984, Tim has devoted a substantial amount of his practice to family law. He has litigated all types of family law issues, handling estates with nominal as well as substantial value well in to the millions of dollars. He has also been involved in numerous mediations and arbitrations involving family law matters. He is qualified to mediate and arbitrate all types of family law matters. He is also a case evaluator for the Macomb County Circuit Court.
Tim holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded attorneys by their peers. He was also recognized as a Top Lawyer in Metro Detroit – 2010 by DBusiness Magazine.
