Mr. Stapleton is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and University of Michigan Law School. He has nearly 30 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts throughout the Midwest. Mr. Stapleton advises and conducts litigation for a wide range of corporate and non-profit clients.
He has authored several texts and articles on environmental law and litigation techniques, including, Co-Author: Environmental Torts: chapter of Michigan Torts, Institute of Continuing Legal Education (1992); Environmental Litigation, Wiley Law Publications (1994). One of Mr. Stapleton’s specialties is insurance coverage litigation, with an emphasis on coverage for pollution and environmental claims. He has successfully obtained millions of dollars in insurance benefits for his clients, ranging from homeowners with toxic substance in their homes to municipalities and corporations with multi-million dollar environmental cleanup liabilities. He also specializes in toxic tort claims and property disputes involving claims of nuisance, trespass and easement rights. He is a certified mediator and is approved for referrals from the Washtenaw County Circuit Court. Mr. Stapleton is rated AV by Martindale-hubbell and was named a Super Lawyer in 2010-2013.
